Answers to common questions about Luniq apps.

FAQ

Frequently asked.

Why Luniq?

Luniq apps are designed and built with high craft — every detail is considered so the app feels precise and dependable in the field. They are local-first: your maps, files and position run on-device, not in someone else's cloud. They are privacy-first, with no accounts and no sign-in to slow you down or track you. And you choose how you pay: rent it for a while, or buy it outright and own that version forever.

Do the apps need an internet connection?

No. Luniq apps are built to work offline. Once your maps or files are on the device, everything — your live position, bearings, file inspection — runs on-device with no signal required.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There are no accounts and no sign-in. You download the app and use it.

Is my data stored in the cloud?

Only if you choose to put it there. By default your data lives on your device, and Luniq apps never upload it to us. You decide where files go: keep them on the device, or save and open them from your own cloud storage — such as iCloud Drive, Dropbox or Google Drive — through the standard iOS Files picker. In that case your data is held in your own account under that provider's terms, not ours. One thing to be aware of: if you have iCloud Backup turned on for your iPhone, iOS may automatically include an app's on-device data in your encrypted iCloud backup. That is an Apple device feature rather than something Luniq does, and you can control it per app in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup.
